About LEFORD
LEFORD is an artist/ illustrator based in London with a background in fashion, magazines and curation. The work she produces has an expressive and imperfect aesthetic which is produced by hand, often using ink and oil pastels. 
“My work is mostly spontaneous, often happening as a response to something that has inspired me. I try to document a moment, as I see it or feel it, right then and there, or to express something that has resonated or stuck with me.

I like materials or equipment that encourage freedom and the unpolished aesthetic that I find appealing. I like happy accidents and often see something off the side of the page that will become crucial to a piece of work.

I generally don’t like prettiness or fuss so I am instinctively drawn to black and white and I have an appreciation of ‘whitespace’ that probably comes from my background in magazines. I think my styling and curatorial background also comes through in my work.

Variety is extremely important to me. I love experimenting and trying new things and exploring ideas through different avenues. I really enjoy the start of something, when it is exciting and raw. I try to keep this energy in each piece of work”.
